Amaris is a good-aligned drow (dark elf) who serves as a cleric to Mystra, a goddess of magic.

As Mystra's cleric, Amaris seeks to maintain the balance and prosperity of magic in the world while also representing the "goodness" of typically-evil drow. She is a hopeful but sheltered character with a kind personality.
